My quilter is also my friend and a member of my quilt group. She stopped by on Saturday to deliver a completed quilt and brought me something special. She has the most beautiful rosebush in her garden named Heaven Scent. I smell the roses and drool over the color every time I see it. She brought me one of those roses and a snowman cookie. We had rain and snow that day so the combination couldn’t be more appropriate. Thanks Kate!!

We were delighted when Holly Lakehouse (aka Holly Holderman of Lakehouse Dry Goods) invited us participate in the Doll Dress design event. We have used Lakehouse fabrics for quite some time. What I love most about their fabrics is the colors. Holly is a master colorist and you can always expect the pieces in her collections to work together beautifully. She also had the foresight to blend one collection into the next. What this means for quilters is that you can get the new stuff and mix it with the older stuff and it all works perfectly. “Doll Dresses” is no exception.
Our doll dress block is very, very simple. I like jumpers. I like red, pink, green and white in almost any proportion! Stir it all together with ReNee’s cute pattern and viola, you have our block. We cut our jumper from red, sewed a green 1 " piece to the bottom of it and covered the seam with lace that was top stitched in place. We cut the blouse from my favorite pink and lined it up with the edges of the jumper. We then hand appliquéd the blouse and jumper in place on the center of a 12" background square. I think you could easily get away with a square cut at 10 1/2". After the appliqué was complete, we pressed and added 2 little red buttons. The block was trimmed to 9 1/2" square.
I loved this new collection so much that QuiltSoup is offering a new quilt from this line that will debut at Houston Quilt Market. I am telling you that it is cute, cute, cute! It is called All Dolled Up and it is one of my favorites. Here’s a sneak peek at a one of the blocks:
Our blog is also brand new and I am still fine tuning it. I can tell you that we have tons of exciting news and will be giving you the scoop the first minute that we can.
